Cha Am Attractions Bat Cave

For a truly surreal Amazing Unseen Thailand experience, few Cha Am attractions can beat the sight of 2 million bats in a snaking column as they depart at sunset for their evening foray for food. The nightly mass exodus from Nayang Bat Cave is a spectacular display of nature and poetry in motion as they make an undulating trail across the sky.

You can literally set your watch by the bats’ internal clocks as they set out at 5:30pm every night to forage, with the last bats bringing up the rear about 20 minutes after the mass departure begins. Witnessing this spectacle is a fantastic way to enjoy a pre-dinner sunset cocktail, and SO Sofitel Hua Hin can make all the arrangements for you. From the hotel to the Bat Cave it’s only a 10 minute drive to Nayang, the small village near the cave. Your comfortable viewpoint will be a local’s private home where a terrace on 2 floors has been set up for visitors to sit, chill, relax and take photos of the Cha Am sunset while waiting for the show to begin. The best time to visit is from the end of February till early May.
