Khao Nang Phanthurat is a vital attraction either for its natural resources or its historical background. It is believed to be part of the folk literature titled ‘Sang-Thong’. As the story goes, ‘Nang Phanthurat’ is a giantess who adopted ‘Phra-Sang’ as her child while disguising herself as human. One day, Phra-Sang entered the prohibited district, bathed himself in the golden pool, grabbed a disguise costume and other magical items, and then flew away. When returned and could not find her child, the giantess went after and begged him to come back without success. The giantess grieved until death subsequently. After she died, Phra-Sang arranged cremation and the giantess’s body turned into a mountain. As a result, people have called the mountain ‘Khao Nang Phanthurat’ until the present.

Together, the two peaks look like a giant lying on her side. The lush forest park offers two trails – a 300 metre lower trail that takes just 15 minutes to complete. And a full 3.5 km trail looking out over limestone mountains and sparkling sea.

Cha-Am is delightful throughout the year. The best time to visit Kha Nang Phanturat is from November to March. During Thailand’s winter to early summer months.
